Perch set out to achieve a single goal, to help more people contribute to solar energy production. The team believed if we could lower the barriers of solar adoption and create an easy to install solution, more people would bring solar power into their lives.
Perch is a window attachment to hold a small solar array outside your home. It's great for charging small devices like smartphones, tablets and even laptops. Perch was designed to be lightweight and pack flat. It assembles and installs in minutes, fitting into your window in the same way as a typical A/C unit. Perch sports a 17W solar panel, is constructed from recycled steel and produced in Los Angeles, CA.
Residential solar installations has soared in the past decade due to climate change awareness, reduce PV costs and potential in energy bill savings. But not everyone has the ability to make these alterations to their home. Even with federal and local subsidies PV solar can be expensive and for those who don't own their home, installation may not be an option.
Climate change is an enormous, existential problem, but it is solvable if enough people chip in and help. Perch set out to convince people who care for this planet that there's something we all can do, no matter your circumstance.
So we knew the Perch brand had to speak to real people.
We understood that use of a product like Perch would be a new experience for most. Throughout the product’s research, testing and design we ensured each touchpoint was considered: from product education to purchasing to the customer’s window.
Perch is also expandable in many ways, to suit customers of all types. With two versions, one for slider windows and one for double hung, of various sizes. Also each Perch can hold multiple solar panels and charge many different batteries and devices.
Perch is designed to be a reliable, easy to use clean energy generator anyone can use. We believe we’re just at the beginning of a personal energy producing era.
