Empower employees by helping them form weekly habits to track their effort, manage their goals, and focus on professional growth.

Time sheets suck

WIWO (What I Worked On) was born out of a fairly universal pain point - that time tracking and the weekly activity of completing timesheets is terrible. Built internally within VaynerMedia, its first iteration was a simple tool to collect employee effort data as quickly and easily as possible.

Time sheets are just one example of business software designed primarily to serve the needs of the business rather than the people using it every day.

We saw an opportunity to use WIWO as a wedge and begin to blur the line between HR and finance within VaynerMedia, as well as any client service organization.

Goals

User Testing & Prototype

Rapid prototyping and testing was an important part of our discovery process. Prototypes were created in Invision initially to resolve any navigation and UX issues. Then higher fidelity versions would be created, usually in Flinto, Framer or just html/css/js.

Visual Design

The experience and visual design of WIWO naturally demanded a consumer-grade feel. Simplicity in look, language and tone was key to a friendly people-centric application, which conveyed WIWO’s whole new approach to business software. We blended in a degree of loudness and boldness, mostly through color and large typography, making it stand out from other tools on the market.

Here's a sample of the various design concepts that were experimented with.

Identity

We set out to create a logo mark with presence and punch. WIWO’s roots began as a counter to the status quo. We wanted to brand the ‘behavior’ of completing a quick weekly report. The logo represents succinctness and teamwork, with a feel of visual repetition to symbolize weekly consistency.

Interface

Our goal with the interface was to blend the technical aspects of data and information with elements that are friendly and full of life. The color palette is purposefully vivid with a rich depth.

Conclusion

Our core belief is HR software does not grow your business, and business software does not grow your employees. Aligning business and people incentives is the key to happier employees and more profitable organizations.
