Find a workspace & get busy.

The mobile companion for digital nomads.

Makers and digital nomads want the freedom to work anywhere they feel most productive. This style of work-life is becoming more common in many industries, but especially within forward thinking companies and with individual contributors who have moved beyond the traditional 9-to-5 schedule. There are many positive attributes to this working style including improved work-life balance, increased efficiency and increased employee satisfaction. However it presents a few challenges to these professionals: maintaining their mobile office, communicating with coworkers and increased accountability. These professionals need to be responsible for their own work environment.

Opportunities

Workspace Discovery

With many workers preferring a remote office, their definition of a workspace becomes much more broad. All types of shops, venues, restaurants and hidden nooks can serve as a suitable place to get through your daily tasks. Traditional search services are not hyper-focused on this use case. So an organized, ranked and searchable database of ideal workspaces becomes a handy tool. Workable informs the user of which workspaces might be best for which purposes. Whether it's planning out extended blocks of time or spur-of-the-moment meetups with colleagues.

Mobile Toolset

Once a workspace is found, Workable continues to provide value by offering several tools to help communicate with a user's remote team and stay focused on their chosen activity.

Pomodoro timer - The Pomodoro technique is a proven method of breaking up your time to stay focused, get into the flow of work and take appropriate breaks. Workable embraces this with a built in timer. Users are also able to record their activity or goal to achieve within this time block.

Workspace rating - If Workable has confirmed a user has visited a workspace, they have the option of providing feedback about it. Ratings are broken down by attributes and a user's response teaches Workable about each workspace, as well as the user's preferences.

Slack integration - Users have the option of connecting their team Slack accounts. This allows them to automatically trigger status updates with details of their current work location.

Workspace Insights

Our team identified that the greatest value we can provide to remote workers is insight into their daily behavior and work habits. By making sense of location & time, work activity, personal preferences, workspace attributes, and an array of environmental data we hypothesized we can provide much needed insight into where someone works best. To fulfill the need of a mobile work companion and build trust, Workable makes sense of the user's data by visualizing complex datasets, surfacing anomalies and patterns, and walks them through how they can optimize their behavior to produce more efficiently and improve overall work satisfaction.

Conclusion

Following current trends, future workers will be much more responsible for the work environments they choose. Given this control and flexibility, there's a clear need to inform them of great spaces to be productive and help them better understand daily decisions.
